A Yeasty Pest

Posted under Herbalism - May 31st, 08

Yeast infections are notoriously difficult to eliminate and can make you miserable in the process.  There are many natural remedies and cures that can be used to avoid prescription drugs and their side effects.

Firstly take a look at your diet.  Eliminate sugary foods and those that are fermented or contain yeast.  Add foods such as blueberries ad tomatoes to your diet as these are naturally effective at killing yeast infections and preventing the reoccurrence.  Garlic is an excellent remedy to use to stop yeast infections.  Add to your food or use a garlic paste on the affected area to kill off the infection.

Probiotic yoghurt is also a must when suffering from any yeast infection.  The acidophilus in the yoghurt supplies the body with good bacteria to balance out the yeast.  Sugar free yoghurt can be applied directly to the affected area.  If you are suffering from thrush or vaginitis dip a tampon in the yoghurt and insert into the vagina for a couple of hours.

Make an apple cider douche by adding one tablespoon of vinegar to a couple of cups of water.  Then add a garlic clove and leave the mixture overnight.  Remove the clove and use to douche twice daily.

Cranberry can be taken fresh, in sugar free juice or as a supplement to alleviate yeast conditions.

Use tea tree diluted in water to bathe the affected area or put a couple of drops onto a tampon
