Chinese practitioners use small needles which are placed under a person’s skin tissue to bring about good health in the body.
The needles the practitioner use are to restore balance to the physical body. This is known as Qi.
Everyone has Qi in their body and some of it can be cold and some hot. If the Qi is cold then it can affect the strength of the body and the needles will bring back warmth.
The holes the needles make are called the ‘gateway’ which the Chinese people believe are the controls that control pain.
According to the Chinese people pain signals start to pass through the different gates from an injury and finish at the brain. However nerves can handle a certain amount of pain at a time.
Acupuncture blocks the pain before it reaches the brain and then the feeling of pain disappears.
Note:
Dao the Chinese way of life teaches moderation in everything. Humans are used to dealing with three forces such as Jing, Qi and Shen.
Shen is called the spirit of the body.
Jing is in charge of growth, reproduction and growth. Jing is also recognised as the essence of the body.
Qi as mentioned above is the life force and works at its best when balanced.
