Aromatherapy Massage for dogs

Posted under Animal Therapy, Aromatherapy, General, Healing Touch - Nov 12th, 08

We are a dog loving nation and no one is going to deny that. However even by our standards there has been an upturn of events which has led to owners treating their pooches as babies.

Some of these ‘babies’ are small enough to fit into their owners handbags and have become part of the fashion business. Nowadays if you see dogs in the street they have coats, diamante collars, leads and even boots for the rain.

If we put as much effort in to looking after their health as we do dressing them up it would benefit them when they are old and their painful joints and other age related ailments appear.

There are qualified therapists that can help by using their creative knowledge to massage their bodies. Puppies and dogs can both benefit.

. A therapist will use essential oils mixed with a base carrier oil and gently massge all over the dogs body.

• A dog has a keener sense of smell so if the aromatherapy oils can help us to relax  they can have same effect on a dogs mind and body.

Aromatherapy oils can help to relax a dog that is stressed and in need of tender loving care or if it is nervous or hyperactive. Once  a dog starts to feel better their appetite will improve and their energy levels will return.

Tip: There are products in the market for dogs that can be used as home remedies.
