Bowen Technique the Alternative Therapy

Posted under Bowen technique - Oct 10th, 08

The technique was introduced as a stand alone therapy and not to be confused with a massage treatment. Bowen who the technique is named after did not pursue any other healing technique himself and would advise clients that no other treatment be made on their body for at least seven days to allow the bodies natural healing to continue to progress.

The rolling method is a motion with a light touch to encourage the muscles to tighten or loosen as required depending the way the rolling motion is carried out. The movement includes small pauses to allow the body to adapt itself to the its own system and at the same time allows the relaxation of the muscle in the body. Clients have foundthe treatment so relaxing they fall asleep in the earley part of the healing session and do not want to get up from the healing couch.

The muscles of the body when rolled, send out heat sensations which the client can feel, this can be mistaken as a form of energy healing. However the heat is helping the body to regulate it self and start a series of healing events to within the body to heal itself.

The Bowen Technique has positive effects in helping frozen shoulders and Fibromalyalgia which has eased the flexibility and pain the ailments cause. Bowen practitoners are trained in the technique that is becoming well known and clinics are available all over the country.

Treatment of the Bowen technique is now available with physiotherapist in hostpitals and hospices.
