Kidney stones are a mass that forms in a variety of sizes in the bladder and ureter in the body.
There are a variety of stones and they all have the same common trait which is pain.
Uric acid stones are smooth and soft and linked to gout.
Struvite stones are shaped like a large horn and they assemble due to having urinary- tract infections. Women are more likely to have this type of kidney stone.
Cystine stones are rare they are a yellow colour and when they are present it is due to an excessive amount of amino acids in a person’s urine.
Obese people are more likely to contract kidney stones. A change of diet is required and drinking plenty of water. Water will flush out the tiny particles of gravel which forms into the stones.
Tip: urine should be pale yellow, if it is a deeper colour then start drinking water as a preventative measure.
Diet:
Avoid foods such as tea, chocolate, strawberries, rhubarb and spinach.
Citric acid which is found in some yoghurts and fruit is not good for you.
A glass of orange juice drunk on a daily basis can help to stop stones forming.
Note: Making an appointment with a nutritionist who is qualified in diet and nutrition can be of assistance in controlling diabetes.
Caution: Contact your doctor to enable him to assess which stones you have and how to change your diet.
