Sandalwood the Aromatherapy Oil, the Herbal Remedy

Posted under Aromatherapy, Meditation, Practitioners - Jan 26th, 09

The Sandalwood tree which comes from southern Asia is an evergreen and grows up to nine metres in height. The long leathery effect leaves has small purple flowers and due to it being a parasitic it can be versatile but not easy to propagate.

It is widely used as an ingredient in many over the counter products.

However as a natural treatment it is first distilled from the tree to produce the essential oil and has a deep but woody scent or aroma. As healing oil it is used by Chinese practitioners and other medical systems including Tibetan and Ayurvedic.

Note: It takes thirty years before the sandalwood tree is mature and the essential oil is becoming rare and will not be able to carry on if not looked after in future years.

Sandalwood the aromatherapy oil is an herbal remedy but can be associated in meditation as oil which can help a person to centre themselves and bring calmness to mind and body.

Modern ailments can be helped by sandalwood the herbal remedy for ailments such as hyper- active minds, emotional issues and cystitis.

Warning: do not use essential oils directly on the skin as a beauty product or if you think you may be pregnant.
