Snoring is caused by a blockage in the airflow and can be a sign of a more serious problem. This can be stopped but if it a permanent condition than it is adviseable to consult a doctor.
There can be frustration between partners and in an extreme case when there is interruption of a good nights sleep, partners will sleep in separate bedrooms. If this arrangement is prolonged there is a slight strain of emotional relationships and the usual chit chat is reduced to courteous greetings.
Symptons of a person who has disrupted sleep is weight gain, irritability, no sleep, no concentration, moody and less inclined to want a sexual relationship.
There is a serious problem arising if the person who snores appears to stop breathing altogether. This is known medically as Sleep apnea which can develop into a serious condition such as heart problems, high blood pressure and headaches to name a few. If this happens then there is a need to consult a doctor.
Tips:
• Less alcohol and buy a mouth guard.
• Use Nasal Strips at bedtime.
• Reduce smoking
• Buy a snoring pillow.
It is important to note that snoring can kill. If a person is struggling for breath there is danger the carotid arteries can be damaged.
If a person is overweight there is more chance a person will suffer from snoring due to having some excess fat in their throat area.
