A ‘directory’ has all the correct information on each plant or tree. An herbalist will consult the different properties and healing treatments obtained from each plant including the dosage.
I have listed below some of the information regarding the first four herbs or trees and how to use them.
Yarrow or Achillea millefoilium: This is a perennial herb with pink or white flat flowers and leaves that remind you of leather.
The essential oils form this herb can be useful in treating catarrh, colds and fever. If you have nose bleeds then this is herb for you.
Agrimony or Agrimonia eupatoria: This is an anti-inflammatory herb which has spiky yellow flowers and is used internally to treat sore throats, cystitis and diarrhoea.
An infusion of this herb can stem internal bleeding or treat skin wounds.
Garlic: Garlic is a well known herb and used in many culinary dishes. However it is a versatile herb which treats high blood pressure lowers cholesterol and stops blood clotting.
Aloe Vera: This herbal plant has long fleshy spiky leaves and when cut the liquid oozes out. It forms a gel like substance which heals skin, burns and other irritations.
Aloe Vera is available in the form of a drink, creams and lotions
Marshmallow or Althea officinalis: This hardy perennial plant has pink flowers. The entire herb including the root is used and has a sweet but soothing mucilage. Marshmallow can be found in the form of a lozenge or as a sweet.
The flowers can be used externally to bring relief to inflammation of the skin and mouth ulcers.
