What is the Colon and Colonic Hydrotherapy?

Posted under Colonic Hydrotherapy - Aug 4th, 08

The colon or large intestine is about five feet long and is an important part of the digestive system. What does it do? It is an essential part of the body that is in charge of the food waste after consumption. The colon has millions of friendly bacteria which help in detoxifying the waste. The colon is made up of muscle and has three segments, the caceum and ascending colon where the waste enters in a liquid state through to the ileo-caceum valve where the mineral and water are re-absorbed. Mucous is secreted to coat the faeces in the descending colon prior to persons needing to go to the bathroom.

In healthy bodies the transit time from eating to defecation is 24 hours and bowels should be emptied daily. If there is evidence of poor digestion or disease, yeast overgrowth, irritable bowel syndrome or constipation it usually means there re absorption of soluble wastes in the bloodstream which in effect is self-poisoning. The burden this places on other organs including the kidney, skin and lungs can be heavy.
Chronic constipation can lead to diverticulitis, and even bowel cancer in some cases. The skin and the liver can also be affected which in turn affects the nervous system.

Colonic Hydrotherapy to the rescue. It is an internal bath that helps to cleanse the colon of the poisonous gas and mucous deposits. The techniques were first recorded in 1500 BC. The therapist will sterilise all the equipment and filter water gently into the rectum which in turn softens the faecal matter and deposits. It is used alongside alternative methods and responds to dietary and homeopathic therapies.
